Sports medical examination and fitness certificate
We carry out your sports medical and issue the fitness certificate you need to take part in sport, apply for a federation licence, join a club or sit certain physical tests.

What it involves
At Centre Revisions La Seu we carry out medical examinations aimed at assessing an athlete's state of health and confirming that they are in a condition to take part in their sport safely.
We see licensed and amateur athletes, club and team players, cyclists, and people who need to prove their fitness for the physical tests in public sector selection processes. The examination is not only a formality to obtain a document: it is also a preventive measure to understand your health better.
When do you need this medical?
A sports medical is an assessment of your health in relation to the physical activity or sport you take part in. If the result is favourable, the doctor issues a fitness certificate for sporting activity.
Requirements vary depending on the sport, the athlete's age, the type of competition, the federation, or the rules of the selection process. That is why it helps to tell us from the outset what you need the certificate for.
What we carry out sports medicals for
The service covers four different situations. When you book, tell us which one applies to you, because both the examination and the certificate are adapted to the specific purpose.
Football and futsal
FCF licence · 2 seasonsWe issue an individual certificate stating explicitly whether the player is fit to take part, with the details, medical registration number and signature of the doctor responsible. It is valid for Federació Catalana de Futbol licences, and there is no need to have the examination at a specific approved centre or one from a closed list. Once issued, it is the club that uploads it to the licence management system.
Cycling and mass events
licences, rides and racesWe see licensed and amateur cyclists, as well as people taking part in cycling tours, road races and other events that require proof of physical fitness. The examination takes into account your age, medical history, training level and the intensity of the activity.
Public exams and fitness tests
as the rules requireWe issue certificates for people who need to prove their fitness for the physical tests in a public exam or selection process, such as those for the fire service or the police. The content of the certificate depends on the rules of each process, so bring the official form or the rules with you on the day.
Clubs and teams
scheduled appointmentsWe coordinate examinations for the athletes of a single club or team with scheduled appointments: football and futsal teams, local clubs, sports schools, youth categories and cycling clubs. The club contacts us to agree dates, times and the approximate number of athletes.
In every case, the examination is adapted to the athlete's age, medical history, sport, the demands of the activity and the specific purpose of the certificate.
What does the check-up involve?
The examination begins with a clinical interview to understand your health, your medical history and the nature of the physical activity you take part in. From there, it may include:
The specific content of the examination varies according to age, sport, medical history and the requirements of the body requesting the certificate.
If we identify any symptom or medical history during the examination that needs further review, we will explain the next steps: it may be necessary to provide a report from your GP or a specialist, to bring the results of previous tests, to carry out a further examination, or to attend a specialist service. Needing a further assessment does not necessarily mean you cannot take part in sport: the aim is to have enough information to issue the certificate safely.
What to bring
Under-18s should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian where necessary, particularly to provide the medical history and give consent for the examination. If the certificate requires a photograph, we take it at the centre.
How does it work?
- You book an appointment at the centre.
- You tell us which sport you take part in and the specific purpose of the certificate.
- If it is for a public exam, we review the template or the requirements set out in the rules.
- We check your documents.
- We record your personal and family medical history.
- We carry out the relevant medical examination.
- We run whichever tests apply to your type of examination.
- The doctor assesses the results and, if they are favourable, we issue the fitness certificate.
- You submit the certificate to the club, federation, event organiser or body that requested it.
Certificate validity, and who does what
Unlike other medical certificates, validity here is not set by a single regulation or by the medical centre: it depends on who is asking for the document and on the athlete's circumstances.
What validity depends on
Who does what after the centre
For that reason we recommend always telling us the specific purpose of the certificate and bringing the template or the rules if they exist: it is the way to avoid the document being rejected for not matching what the process requires.
The certificate is issued for the specific purpose you tell us, and a document issued for one activity may not be enough for a different sport or for an organisation with different requirements. The requirements and the validity period are set by the federation, the club or the body requesting the certificate, not by the medical centre. That is why it matters to tell us which sport you take part in, which event you need it for and who is asking for it.
